Raheem Sterling insists Liverpool can reverse their recent Selhurst Park trend and reach the FA Cup quarter-finals with a victory this evening.

The 20-year-old's composed finish began a late revival that saw the Reds overcome Bolton Wanderers in dramatic fashion in the fourth round earlier this month.

His leveller at the Macron Stadium kept hopes alive of progress to the next stage, which was soon confirmed by a stunning Philippe Coutinho strike.

Their reward for that tenacity is a journey south to face Crystal Palace, a team that have presented serious problems for Brendan Rodgers' side.

Last May, they battled back from three goals behind to claim a 3-3 draw. In November, Liverpool endured a 3-1 reversal at the same ground.

But Sterling, whose fitness has been monitored this week due to a knock suffered in the Merseyside derby, believes the formbook can be altered in London tonight.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: "We go into every game looking to do our best and win. The last few games there haven't really gone to plan, but that's not to say we can't get a win there.

"If we go there and play the football we know we can play - and it's down to us to play that way - we can hopefully come away with a win.

"We can't take anybody for granted, but we'll be going there knowing full well we can do really well and hopefully get the result.

"The way we have been playing in the last couple of weeks has been really pleasing. Hopefully we can continue that into the next match, get the win and go into the next round.

"It's a massive competition for the club. It's a competition that I've always liked, something that you grow up watching throughout your youth.

"It's no different now for me to try to do my best and help the team, to try to get to the final."

One man who definitely will not play at Selhurst Park is Jordon Ibe, who already featured in the competition during his loan spell at Derby County.

Nevertheless, Sterling happily joined the chorus of appreciation for his teammate following his stellar showings against Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.

"Jordon has gone way to Derby and done really well, scored goals and added goals and assists to his game," he said.

"That's the most important thing for a player in his position, that's what people are going to judge you on. It's really pleasing to see that he has gone away, matured his game and come back to do really well.

"He could have had a goal against Everton but hit the post. His development over the last few months has been massive; hopefully he can continue that and be a really important player for the team."
