Sturridge: We earned our last eight spot
Daniel Sturridge felt Liverpool were deserving of a comeback victory at Crystal Palace that he kickstarted with an accurate second-half volley on Saturday.
With 15 minutes on the clock, Fraizer Campbell threatened to derail the Reds' Wembley dreams by seizing upon a loose ball and sending it past Simon Mignolet.
The Eagles had the advantage but their visitors remained calm, probing for an opening - a chance for the prolific Sturridge to take in typically clinical fashion.
He did too, moments after the interval, moving onto a delightful Jordan Henderson assist to connect with a left-footer that whistled beyond Julian Speroni.
It wasn't long before Adam Lallana added his name to the scoresheet to complete the turnaround and ensure Liverpool are in Monday's quarter-final draw.
Sturridge told BT Sport: "It was a difficult first half when they got the goal. We showed the character that we always do when we go behind, to keep fighting. In the end, we deserved to win.
"It's good to help the team, that's all that matters. I'm happy to be back playing and back from the injury. Every game for us is a big game and we have to concentrate on each game."
