Ahead of the first leg of Liverpool's Europa League tie with Besiktas at Anfield this evening, here is a selection of interesting facts and figures on the game, the teams and the tournament.

In all European football to date, the Reds have played 346 matches and won 193 of them. They have experienced 76 draws and 77 defeats.

At Anfield, Liverpool have suffered just one defeat in their last 21 games in the UEFA Cup or Europa League, losing 3-2 to Udinese in 2012. They have otherwise won 15 and drawn five in that period.

They have met Turkish opposition 10 times, with five wins, three draws and two losses. At Anfield, Liverpool have won four of those five ties, including an 8-0 victory over Besiktas.

Daniel Sturridge could make his European debut for the club two years after joining. He has scored twice in 25 European appearances in his career, with both goals for Chelsea. Jordon Ibe could also play his first game in Europe.

The Reds have not lost any of the last 30 games in which Sturridge has scored.

Steven Gerrard is the last Liverpool player to score a European hat-trick, doing so as a substitute against Napoli at Anfield in this competition in 2010. It is one of 17 hat-tricks recorded by Reds players in Europe.

Only Simon Mignolet has started every European game for Liverpool this season. Gerrard and Raheem Sterling have made an appearance in all six.
