Foundation stars celebrated at Anfield
A special event held in the No.7 lounge at Anfield on Monday evening celebrated 30 star students from the Liverpool FC Foundation, the club's official charity.
These youngsters, who are part of the foundation's football and sports development programme, were chosen for their exemplary behaviour and the manner in which they embody 'the Liverpool way'.
The event, which was sponsored by the Reds' official credit card partner MBNA, included lots of fun-filled activities - including face painting and a dance-off with the club's mascot, Mighty Red.
Among the highlights of the evening was a prize draw to be an official mascot for Liverpool's clash with Burnley at Anfield on Wednesday March 4.
Liam Wilson, aged nine, was the winner of the once-in-a-lifetime prize, which was donated to the Liverpool FC Foundation by MBNA.
Liam's mum, Sue Wilson, said: "I would like to thank the Liverpool FC Foundation and MBNA for making Liam's dream come true.
"This day will never be forgotten. The team and staff made a huge effort with Liam and truly made the event special."
All the attendees also received a goody bag from Mighty Red filled with LFC merchandise and had the opportunity to take photographs with him.
Michael Donald, commercial and customer experience executive at MBNA, said: "We hope that Liam will have the experience of a lifetime walking out hand-in-hand onto the Anfield pitch with his heroes, which I'm sure will be a treasured memory for years to come.
"Well done to all of the children who were selected for our mascot draw for their brilliant attitudes, and to the foundation for all their hard work in making this such a great event."
Andrea Cooper, head of the Liverpool FC Foundation, added: "I would like to thank MBNA for their generosity in helping to stage this event and donating their mascot place to the foundation.
"All the youngsters who attended the event are worthy of such a celebration for all their hard work. They're a credit to the foundation and the work it delivers in local communities across the city.
"I'm sure Liam will be a fantastic mascot and that he will remember the occasion for a long time to come."
