Fans attending the Manchester City game this weekend can expect to see some changes at Anfield, as progress continues on the expansion of the Main Stand.

Construction, which began earlier this year, has led to changes to the hoardings within the former Main Stand car park. The existing hoarding line, close to the Anfield Road entrance to the stadium has been extended.

As a result, Anfield's Shankly Gates, erected in honour of the iconic manager, have temporarily been placed into safe storage while work is being completed. The Shankly Gates will return to Anfield when work is complete.

The perimeter fencing that sat alongside the Shankly Gates on Anfield Road has also been removed, allowing space for supporters moving in and around the stadium on a matchday.

These changes will be in place until the end of March and have been put in place to ensure that work to accommodate the expansion site's new foundations is carried out safely.
