Liverpool FC today announced details of the annual Players' Awards ceremony, which for the first time is open to fans to see their winners receiving the awards.

The prestigious event which celebrates the first-team, Ladies and Academy players as well as former players and supporters, launched in 2014 and is back this year, bigger and better.

The event will take place on Tuesday May 19 at the Echo Arena Liverpool and will offer fans the opportunity to attend alongside Brendan Rodgers, the first-team squad, Liverpool Ladies, Academy players and legends to celebrate the club first-hand.

Ian Ayre, the club's chief executive officer, said: "Our Players' Awards evening provides us with the opportunity to look back across the season and recognise all those involved in this great club.

"Being able to share this special evening with our supporters will create a great atmosphere and I'm sure will be a very special night for everyone."

The accolades, which will be presented at the event, include Player of the Year awards for the first team, Ladies and Academy, Young Player of the Year, Goal of the Year and awards for former players, LFC staff and supporters.

The evening will also feature a special tribute to Reds captain Steven Gerrard, who will leave the club at the end of the season.

As well as having the opportunity to attend the event, fans will be invited to vote in a number of categories. Voting for Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year opens today, with voting for Goal of the Year and Player Performance of the Year to open on April 27.
