A rare gap in the fixture schedule has allowed Brendan Rodgers to grant his players two days off before it's back to business for the journey to Swansea City next Monday.

With eight days between the FA Cup draw with Blackburn Rovers and the clash in Wales, it is currently the first time since the middle of January that Liverpool have not had a midweek match to navigate.

Instead, Rodgers can oversee a more considered and extended period of preparation on the Melwood training pitches for a meeting with his former club at the Liberty Stadium.

"The players have two days off now after everything that they have put in over this period," the manager told Liverpoolfc.com after the 0-0 against Rovers.

"And they deserve that because they have put so much effort into getting us into the position that we're in. But after that, we'll recover and be ready to go again."

The quarter-final tie on Sunday was the third of three successive Anfield encounters in the space of a week for the Reds, who have played 46 games this season.

Manchester City had been dramatically beaten in the Barclays Premier League a week previously, while Burnley were professionally overturned three days later.

Those results mean Rodgers' team will take a 12-match unbeaten streak in the division to Swansea, and one Liverpool are determined to elongate.

He added: "Swansea is another big game for us and we want to continue performing to the level that has allowed us to pick up the number of points that we have.

"They deserve a rest, but we'll get ready after those couple of days and look forward to the next game."
