Harry Wilson put his last-gasp winner against Everton on a par with the late curler he hit against Real Madrid as the winger reflected on Liverpool U21s' mini-derby victory on Monday night.

The Welshman was at his scintillating best at the Swansway Stadium as he stepped up from the substitutes' bench with the Reds trailing 1-0 to their rivals.

He helped carve the team's equaliser by whipping a dangerous cross towards the back post, which Everton defender Tyias Browning turned into the path of Daniel Cleary and he nodded home.

Then, with little over a minute left on the clock, Wilson took matters into his own hands to glide inside from the right and unleash a fearsome strike, which flew beyond the grasp of Russell Griffiths and into the top corner.

It was the youngster's 19th goal at all levels for the Academy this season - and provided echoes of a similar late intervention from the wide-man when it mattered, earlier on this season against Real.

With the scores locked at 2-2 in the UEFA Youth League back in October, Wilson latched onto Jordan Rossiter's pass to curl home a dramatic winner.

On Monday, he was unable to chose between that and his sumptuous derby strike.

"It was fantastic to get the goal at the end to win the game [against Everton]," Wilson told Liverpoolfc.com. "When they scored I think we knew we'd get a couple more chances because we're an attacking team.

"When I cut inside, I've had a few this season where I've gone for the far corner and it hasn't come off. So this time I went for the other one and thankfully it went in.

"Both of the games against Real and Everton were fantastic occasions, both very good teams at a great level of football.

"I don't know which one I can put at the top, it was just good to score in both. The Everton goal won't be leaving me any time soon."

Liverpool controlled the mini-derby; however, it was the Blues who took the lead in the clash when Ryan Ledson hit a venomous strike beyond Lawrence Vigouroux.

However, Cleary was clinical to bring the scores level within five minutes, while Wilson dazzled once again by unleashing a rocket beyond the 'keeper deep into injury time to seal the win.

"Everton are always a tough team to play against," reflected the youngster. "But I think the lads stuck together well, we tried to play our football although it was difficult because of the way Everton pressed us.

"They're always high tempo games, very little time on the ball. When you have such little time on the ball, you've got to try to come up with that quality to win the game and I think we did that.

"We're on a good roll as a team and we're in a good place. The team morale is high. Every time we go on the pitch we're confident in each other to get the result."
