Colin Pascoe's eye is still fondly drawn to Swansea City when the fixture list maps out Liverpool's matches for the season.

The Reds assistant manager was the trusted deputy to Brendan Rodgers at the Liberty Stadium before making the switch to Anfield in 2012.

In Wales, the pair masterminded Swansea's promotion to the Barclays Premier League and wowed the country with their style of football once there.

So there's always a sense of nostalgia for Pascoe when his current and former sides lock horns, as they will in an evening clash on Monday.

"You look at when you are playing Manchester United, Chelsea and so on," he told Liverpoolfc.com ahead of the game.

"But, for me, I always look at the Swansea one - I'm really looking forward to it."

Liverpool make the journey to the Liberty buoyed by a 12-match unbeaten run in the Premier League that has restored hopes of a top four finish.

Four straight wins have helped to make Rodgers' charges the division's form team, while nine clean sheets have been chalked up in all competitions in 2015.

Pascoe explained: "Winning games breeds confidence and that's where you get the momentum.

"The fitness level of the lads has been immense. They have had a lot of games; they have been getting a game every four days. To prepare themselves like that is a tribute to all of the players in the squad."

When the Reds run out at Swansea, eight days will have elapsed since their previous fixture.

It has been a rare and welcome breather for the players in a season that has pushed them to the limits, with three encounters a week taken as standard.

But with the schedule now far more relaxed, Rodgers and his staff are confident that the supreme form on show this year can continue.

"They get themselves focused, they have got virtually one game a week - other than the cup coming in between - and they can draw on that, as happened last season," Pascoe added.

"You go back to last season, where we had one game a week, and they will probably touch on the experiences of that. They can pull from that."
