Jerome Sinclair insists he is determined to make the most of his spell with Wigan Athletic after completing a youth loan move to the DW Stadium on Monday.

The 18-year-old striker trained with his new teammates for the first time today and was alongside a familiar face in Sheyi Ojo, who has made an impression since his temporary switch from the Academy.

The duo have also teamed-up with former Red Jermaine Pennant, who scored two fantastic free-kicks during the Latics' 2-1 win over Rotherham United on Saturday.

Having netted 22 goals across all levels for the Academy so far this term, Sinclair could be in contention for an early debut for Malky Mackay's side when they host Watford at the DW Stadium on Tuesday night.

Speaking to Wigan's official website, he said: "I'm delighted to be here. I trained this morning, which went really well.

"The squad is really buoyant and hopefully we can get some good results to try and keep us in this league.

"When you go to a new team and an environment with a lot of new faces, it can be quite difficult to settle in, but with a familiar face in Sheyi already here it's going to be really easy for me.

"I've seen already that there are some really quality players in this team and the players can go and express themselves, so hopefully we can soon start to climb the division.

"We just have to keep working hard and try and nail down some good results and hopefully stay up."

Asked as to what qualities he can bring to the team, the 18-year-old added: "Pace, energy and hopefully goals. I'm a striker so I want to try and bring goals to the team if I can.

"The last two years I have struggled to stay fit but this year I've been able to stay fit and have been playing regularly.

"I've now got this big opportunity to try and play some first team games and I'm hoping to grab it and hopefully it will be a great experience for me."
