Important info for fans at United match
Supporters attending the Manchester United game on Sunday March 22 can expect to see further progress at Anfield, as work to erect the expanded Main Stand is underway.
The first phase of the steel work has put in place a frame that will form the structure of the new stand. Visitors to the stadium will be able to see the first section of the new structure in position, as it now stands level with the height of the existing stand.
The club is asking supporters who don't need to visit the Main Stand car park to not make a special visit to the redevelopment area. This is to ensure that there is minimum disruption in and around the stadium while the expansion work continues.
The new steel frame is being assembled behind the existing hoardings, within the car park, and will be built behind and over the current stand. Construction work also means that a number of steel columns are now installed in front of the hoardings, opposite the main entrance.
As part of these changes, exit gate 11, for seats in the Upper Anfield Road Stand (blocks 221 to 228), has changed. At the end of the game, supporters leaving the stand will be rerouted through a new and quicker exit door, leading directly onto Anfield Road.
To assist all fans moving in and around the stadium, stewards and support staff will be in place on Sunday.
These changes will remain until the end of the season.
Please note that all fans are advised to be at the stadium 30 minutes prior to kick-off.
