The Football Association has confirmed that Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana have been withdrawn from the England squad for the forthcoming fixtures against Lithuania and Italy.

The Liverpool duo were in action as the Reds lost 2-1 to Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, but will now miss the forthcoming international matches due to injury.

England face Lithuania at Wembley on Friday night in a Euro 2016 qualifier before making the trip to Turin to lock horns with Italy in a friendly match on Tuesday March 31.

Separate statements posted on the FA's official website confirmed the pair will now return to Merseyside.

Meanwhile, the Croatian Football Association have also confirmed that Reds defender Dejan Lovren will miss his side's Euro 2016 qualifier against Norway in Zagreb on Saturday.
