How All-Star game will help charities
Anfield will play host to some of the world's finest footballing talents this weekend - and today on Liverpoolfc.com, we continue to outline how funds raised from the All-Star charity game will be used to support those in need.
Organised by the Liverpool FC Foundation, the Reds' official charity, Sunday's showpiece event will see two sides, captained by Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, go head-to-head in the 3pm BST kick-olff.
Guests will include the likes of Thierry Henry, Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres, and first-team stars not on international duty as well as young talents from the Academy playing their part.
But the day is about much more than just a stellar 90 minutes of football and the chance to welcome the likes of Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia, Pepe Reina and more back to the hallowed Anfield turf.
As well as helping Alder Hey Children's Charity's £30million appeal to provide a new Hospital in the Park, the match will help fund the Liverpool FC Foundation's community programmes and lend support to four other charities in the local area. Here, we learn a bit more about each of those organisations...
Cash for Kids
Cash for Kids is part of the Bauer Radio's network of local charities, which operates across 21 areas around the UK, including Liverpool's Radio City.
Their mission is to respond to the needs of children from the North West, Merseyside and across North Wales, supporting those who suffer abuse or neglect, who are disabled, or those who have special needs, helping them to live life to the full and achieve their individual potential.
The money raised by Cash for Kids goes to support local children under the age of 18, and the charity has a grant-giving process that means organisations, charities and individuals can apply for support that will make a difference where it is needed most.
