While Sunday's All-Star charity match at Anfield will assemble talent from across Europe, there will also be a strong local showing out on the pitch.

Selected and captained by Scousers Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, the teams will lock horns in the 3pm BST kick-off, which you can watch exclusively live on LFCTV and LFCTV GO.

The likes of Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso will be returning to grace the hallowed turf, but what about the participants who learned their trade much closer to home? Here we look at the local boys who will take part...

Jamie Carragher

Carra will captain one of Sunday's teams, and it'll be great to see the man who is second on Liverpool's all-time appearances list back in the famous colours. Born in Bootle, Carragher joined Liverpool's youth set-up under Steve Heighway, who helped ensure Jamie became one of the best centre-backs of his generation. Like Gerrard, the former Liverpool defender is a patron of the Alder Hey Children's Charity.

Scott Dann

Dann is a player who has dragged himself up through the levels of English football. The Kirkby lad started his career at Walsall and spent time on loan at Redditch and Hednesford Town. His big break came at Birmingham City, as he built a reputation as one of the Premier League's more resolute defenders. Now at Crystal Palace, he's helped the Eagles consolidate their position in the Premier League.

Jon Flanagan

Still working his way back to full fitness having missed the entire campaign with a knee injury, Flanagan would welcome any minutes on the field during the All-Star encounter. No doubt Brendan Rodgers feels the same about a passionate Scouser who was a dependable figure in the Premier League title race last season. Perhaps the opposition would prefer otherwise, though, given his stubborn style.

Anthony Gerrard

It will be an emotional day for the other Gerrard as he takes the field at Anfield alongside cousin Steven. Born in Huyton, Anthony has carved out a decent career for himself as a centre-back with spells at Cardiff City and Hull City as well as Huddersfield Town. He's currently plying his trade on loan at Oldham Athletic, but will surely relish the opportunity to swap League One for Anfield despite starting his career across Stanley Park at Everton.

Steven Gerrard

A total of 704 appearances and 183 goals in red over the years only tells half the story. Gerrard will be captaining a side against friend and former colleague Jamie Carragher as he aims to raise money for local charities, including the Alder Hey Children's Charity, where he's a founding partner of their current appeal in aid of building and equipping a new hospital. Born in Whiston, Merseyside, Gerrard has become not just an icon of the club but of the city itself.

Rickie Lambert

Lambert has been living his dream of playing at Anfield since completing a switch to his boyhood club from Southampton last summer. The No.9 is a good friend of Steven Gerrard and would relish the chance to open his account at the Reds' home ground this Sunday. So far, the striker's three goals for the Reds have all been scored on the road - at Crystal Palace, Ludogorets Razgrad and Aston Villa.

Kevin Nolan

Nolan is one of the Premier League's great stalwarts, and there are now adult fans who cannot remember a time when the midfielder wasn't sneaking on to a knockdown to grab his side a goal. Although he made his name with Bolton, Nolan is very much a Liverpool lad and was a boyhood Reds fan, attending Liverpool's Blue Coat School and representing the city's schoolboy team.

Craig Noone

Noone's rise through the divisions is a real Roy of the Rovers story. While playing for non-league Skelmersdale he worked as a roofer, helping build Steven Gerrard's extension. Now he'll be taking the field with Gerrard having met as equals in the Premier League last season.

Martin Kelly

Like Gerrard, Kelly was born in Whiston and made his way through the club's youth ranks to the first team. Kelly was rated as one of the Reds' top prospects, causing a sensation by grabbing a man-of-the-match award in his first start against Lyon. However, that same game also saw him sidelined for four months with a groin problem. Injuries hindered Kelly's development at Liverpool. Having left the club for Crystal Palace last summer, he appears to have put his injuries behind him - starting 26 times for the Eagles this season.

Jay Spearing

Born and raised in Wallasey in the Wirral, Spearing made his name on the other side of the Mersey by captaining Liverpool's U18s to an FA Youth Cup triumph in 2007. Spearing burst into the Liverpool side in the 2010-11 season. Sadly, in subsequent years Spearing found opportunities at Anfield more limited and departed for Bolton in 2013. He's currently on loan at Blackburn Rovers. On Sunday he'll take the field with his former Liverpool skipper, Gerrard.

Stephen Warnock

Warnock's progress through the Reds' ranks saw him emerge as a gritty defender under Rafa Benitez. He's very much from the north west - born and growing up in Ormskirk. He made a total of 67 appearances for the Reds - and got his name on the scoresheet once, against Fulham - before departing the club for Blackburn Rovers.
