Joe Allen turned in an impressive display as Wales surged to the top of Euro 2016 qualifying Group B by beating former league leaders Israel 3-0 in Haifa on Saturday evening.

The Liverpool midfielder was neat and industrious in the centre of the park, drawing plenty of plaudits as his side sealed a comfortable victory at the Sammy Ofer Stadium.

Wales took the lead when Gareth Bale flicked a long pass into the path of Aaron Ramsey, who beat Ofir Marciano, Israel's goalkeeper, with a delicate, looping header to open the scoring.

The Arsenal man's goal arrived on the cusp of half-time - and, shortly after the interval, Bale whipped a ferocious free-kick beyond the grasp of Marciano to double the deficit.

Eitan Tibi was sent off for Israel for a second bookable offence, before Ramsey and Bale combined for the third goal; the Real Madrid man burying the former's cut-back to cap a scintillating display.

The victory, Wales' third in five group matches, moved Chris Coleman's charges to Group B's summit - two points clear of Israel - who have played one game less.

Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward was an unused substitute in the game, while Simon Mignolet and on-loan striker, Divock Origi, also watched from the bench as Belgium ran-out 5-0 winners over Cyprus in their qualifier.
