Pepe Reina admits his return to Anfield for today's All-Star charity game will be an emotional occasion – and the Spaniard insists he can't wait to hear 'You'll Never Walk Alone' ring around the stadium.

The goalkeeper has been selected as part of Jamie Carragher's squad for the game against a Steven Gerrard outfit in the fundraising event organised by the Liverpool FC Foundation, the club's official charity.

Tickets for the match have completely sold out, but you can watch the entire event unfold exclusively live on LFCTV and LFCTV GO, as build-up to the game takes you behind the scenes at Anfield for the star-studded fixture.

Reina is relishing returning to the club where he spent eight years between the sticks - and the 33-year-old spoke to Liverpoolfc.com on the eve of the fixture to preview what promises to be a special afternoon in L4.

Pepe, great to see you back in Liverpool again. How does it feel to be back here and knowing you're about to play at Anfield again?

It feels wonderful. It's a great moment for everybody, not just for Stevie, but for the city and for all the players who are involved in this game and for this cause. We'll have a wonderful time.

You've brought your children back to the city - they were brought up here almost as Scousers - what's it like for them to be back as well?

It's good. They've been raised here and one of them was born here, so for them it was home and I think it probably always will be. It'll be good for them to share a moment with us on the pitch today and there are going to be some emotions.

Do you think it will maybe get the better of you, emotionally, being back here in front of a full house?

It's emotional. It's a way for me to say 'goodbye' to everybody and say a 'thank-you' for all those happy moments during my eight years here.

Earlier this week you said one of the moments that you were looking forward to most was hearing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' again...

Yes. I don't know if I'm playing for the local team today or if [Carragher's side] is the away team, but we all feel like we're home. To hear 'You'll Never Walk Alone' once again, and, who knows, maybe for the last time as a player, it's always special. I'm very much looking forward to it. I'll be paying attention to how beautiful it's going to be in that moment.

Who are you looking forward to linking up with most?

All of them. I saw the squads and it's great to be involved in the game with those players I played with during my career and also players we played against - the likes of [John] Terry and [Didier] Drogba. It's going to be special to share a pitch with all of them.

You were always a big supporter of charity while you were here. How important do you think it is that the players come back and lend a hand for these causes?

It's always for a good cause. [For] the city that gave me so many things, this is kind of a payback. I'm always going to be grateful to this lovely city, to these lovely people and it's [about giving] just a little piece of my time back and showing my gratitude.

So many of the charities that the foundation supports are there to care for children which, as a dad, is important to you, isn't it...

Yes. When you become a dad, you realise that even more. Nowadays, it's the main thing we can do as football players - to help [others] a little bit with their own life. It's well worth it. For us, it's just a game to enjoy, but it means that they will live a little bit better.
