Preparations for Monday's meeting with Newcastle United are in full swing at Melwood, though the Liverpool players and staff will briefly pause today to watch the Grand National together.

The eyes of the country and the world will be on Merseyside from 4.15pm BST as the famous steeplechase takes place at Aintree, and it'll be no different at the Reds' training ground.

Once the latest training session has concluded, the manager and his squad will gather to see how the thrilling event unfolds and whether they have been lucky enough to pick the winner.

"A few of the boys went the other day and had a good day with their partners, so that was nice," said Rodgers when asked about the race at his press briefing.

"We're preparing for the game, but we'll watch it on TV. I've got Portrait King. I was lucky enough to get the winner last year - we'll see how we go this year."
