Fara Williams missed a penalty as Liverpool Ladies lost 1-0 at Chelsea on Sunday.

Matt Beard's side deserved something from the game; however, it was to ultimately prove a frustrating day in the Women's Super League encounter at Staines Town FC.

Both teams had good chances in an even first half but the hosts made the breakthrough on 55 minutes when Eniola Aluko pounced to beat Libby Stout.

Beard's charges did their best to find an equaliser and carved out some good opportunities.

Asisat Oshoala fired over after superb play from Natasha Dowie, and in the 69th minute, the Ladies were presented with a golden chance to restore parity when they were awarded a penalty.

However, Williams couldn't convert as Chelsea held out to clinch the points.

Liverpool Ladies: Stout, Harris, Easton, Bonner, Murray, Schroder (Ryland 74), Williams, Oshoala, Longhurst (Zelem 81), Smorsgard (Staniforth 74), Dowie.
