Samed Yesil was on the mark as Liverpool U21s lost 2-1 to Fleetwood Town in a friendly at the Kirkby Academy on Friday afternoon.

The away side took the lead through Akil Wright, but Yesil rounded the Fleetwood goalkeeper to level the game.

However, Harvey Hodd fired the winner for Town.

Reflecting on the loss, U21s boss Michael Beale told Liverpoolfc.com: "It was great to see Samed score again following on from his two goals in our win at Tottenham last week.

"We created a lot of chances but were very wasteful in front of goal so we will be hoping to put that right against Everton."

Beale's charges are next in action when they face Everton in the mini-derby at Goodison Park on Thursday night at 7pm BST.
