'Focus now on three points against Hull'
Liverpool must learn from their frustration in a stalemate against West Bromwich Albion to secure a better result at Hull City next week, explained defender Dejan Lovren.
Dominance of the ball and territory at the Hawthorns on Saturday was not enough for the Reds, who were forced to settle for a point due to their failure to beat Boaz Myhill.
Jordon Ibe crashed a left-footer onto the crossbar in the second half and the Baggies goalkeeper made a double save to deny Philippe Coutinho and then Jordan Henderson.
The 0-0 scoreline was a disappointment to Brendan Rodgers and his players, and Lovren is already looking ahead to Hull and an opportunity to claim victory.
"We're disappointed that we couldn't get the three points," the centre-back told Liverpoolfc.com shortly after the final whistle was blown.
"It was a tough game for us, difficult to play against 11 players behind the ball. We had some good opportunities and didn't score.
"It's better to have a point than to lose - they also had a couple of chances on the counter-attack - but of course it was a disappointment for us.
"It was difficult after the game against Aston Villa. Everyone was dreaming that we would win the trophy, and we lost.
"Of course it was difficult. But we knew that we needed to move on and we were preparing well all week. Now we need to focus on the game on Tuesday against Hull City.
"It will be a typical game, similar to today. We'll need to be patient again and wait for our opportunities to score. Hopefully we'll get the three points."
Lovren was an assured performer at West Brom, fending off the power and pace of the hosts' front two to help record a 13th clean sheet of the calendar year.
He took little, if any, pleasure from his own display, however. Instead, the No.6's only thought was the team's points tally and how to increase it quickly.
"I'm satisfied with my performance but I'm not satisfied with the point," added Lovren. "My performance doesn't matter - the most important thing is three points and we didn't get them.
"We need to concentrate on the next game. We will not stop. There are a lot of points still in front of us and we are still confident.
"But we need to take the maximum possible points from now until the end. I hope that we can achieve that and be fourth."
