Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho was named in the PFA Barclays Premier League Team of the Year and took third place in the vote for the Young Player of the Year award on Sunday.

The Brazilian and teammate Raheem Sterling were among the contenders to claim the Young Player of the Year prize in London.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane was the winner, however, with Coutinho finishing third in the poll of fellow professionals.

The 22-year-old had been shortlisted for the main PFA Players' Player of the Year honour too, which was ultimately presented to Chelsea's Eden Hazard.

Ahead of the ceremony, the association's top-flight Team of the Year was revealed - and Coutinho earned a spot in the XI.

The Reds' No.10 has been in fine creative form for much of the campaign, contributing seven goals so far in all competitions.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard also received a special merit award from the PFA, alongside Frank Lampard, in recognition of his 17-year Anfield career.
