Liverpool fans have been praised by police for their conduct during the FA Cup semi-final clash with Aston Villa earlier this month.

The Reds were followed down to Wembley by 32,000 supporters hoping to see their team claim a place in the final of the oldest cup competition in world football.

Though the day ended in disappointment courtesy of a 2-1 defeat, supporters lived up to their reputation by creating a vocal sea of red in one end of the national stadium.

And the fans' behaviour throughout the trip to the capital has earned them recognition from the police commander who oversaw both FA Cup semi-finals.

A letter to the club read: "I would like to take the opportunity to highlight to you, how well your fans conducted themselves over the weekend resulting in no major issues at all."
