Ibe reveals boss' post-Hull pep talk
Jordon Ibe has lifted the lid on Brendan Rodgers' post-match debrief at Hull City, revealing that the manager called for his team to rediscover their identity.
Liverpool's hopes of claiming a place in the top four took a hit at the KC Stadium on Tuesday as they were defeated 1-0 by Steve Bruce's side.
The Reds mustered nine shots on target against the Tigers but, for the second game in a row, failed to find the back of the net.
After the final whistle, Rodgers lamented his team's inability to make their chances count on a disappointing night.
And, as Ibe explained, the manager also spoke to his squad about the importance of calling on their ability to fight for a result during periods where their natural attacking game is not paying dividends.
"[He told us] just to continue the way we're playing, to remember the identity of how we play and, most importantly, to try to get goals," the winger told Liverpoolfc.com.
"The last few games we haven't got a goal so it's about getting shots off and the attacking players getting into the box when crosses are coming in.
"[He talked about how] we need to keep playing as a team and why playing against teams like Hull, teams lower in the league, can be difficult on a Tuesday night.
"Sometimes it's not about playing the best football, it's just trying to grind it out and get the three points.
"We weren't good enough at that [on Tuesday] and obviously the whole team was disappointed, including me, so hopefully we can change that."
Rodgers' men have the chance to quickly recover from their loss to Hull when they face Queens Park Rangers at Anfield today.
The fixture holds particular significance for Ibe, who made his Barclays Premier League debut against the Londoners on the final day of the 2012-13 season.
The 19-year-old described that occasion as an 'important and special day' for him on a personal level, but says this time he is simply thinking about earning the first of what he hopes will be four wins during the run-in.
"The whole team wants to do the Liverpool fans proud and win the last four games," he continued.
"We need to look forward to QPR and hopefully get the three points and get some goals in the team again.
"I think for the whole team [the aim is] just to win the final four games and see where we come in the league.
"If it's not in the top four, then we will have to finish fifth and then prepare the team for next season and hopefully do the fans proud like we did last year.
"[QPR] is another difficult game. The last four will all be difficult but we just need to focus on this game and the games are coming quickly so we need to be prepared and hopefully win."
