Brendan Rodgers reiterated the importance of Liverpool not letting up in their final three matches after his side experienced that winning feeling again at the weekend.

A run of three games without a win was ended at Anfield on Saturday, with Steven Gerrard's late header in front of the Kop earning a 2-1 result against Queens Park Rangers.

The captain's decider made amends for an earlier penalty miss and provided the required response following a leveller from Leroy Fer to Philippe Coutinho's cool opener.

Later in the day Manchester United were overturned by West Bromwich Albion, leaving Rodgers' charges four points behind their rivals in the battle for Champions League qualification.

"We'll just continue to fight to finish as high as we can," the manager explained to Liverpoolfc.com.

"If we can do that, we just never know what can happen. Of course, there aren't so many games left but you've just got to keep going right to the very end."

The Reds created enough chances to have secured victory over Chris Ramsey's QPR long before Gerrard surged onto a corner kick and nodded past Robert Green.

Rodgers felt it was a deserved outcome at the end of a testing seven days for his team.

He said: "We didn't collect the number of points that we would have liked over the course of the week.

"We probably didn't deserve to get anything from the game [at Hull]; I thought we did enough at West Brom to win. The three of them were all difficult games - the teams are fighting and scrapping, and that makes it very difficult.

"But [against QPR] I thought we deserved to win, even though we conceded a late goal and obviously missed some chances."
