Brendan Rodgers believes Chelsea are deserving Barclays Premier League champions but is keen to spoil the title party at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to keep Liverpool in the top-four hunt.

Jose Mourinho's men clinched the crown with three games to spare as they defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 at home last weekend thanks to an Eden Hazard strike.

That win was the Blues' 14th on home turf this season, and they have still yet to lose in front of their own fans in the league in 2014-15.

But, while Rodgers revealed he has offered his congratulations to his opposite number Mourinho, he reiterated his desire to claim the three points.

Liverpool sit four points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with three games remaining, and the manager hopes to keep the pressure on Louis van Gaal's side in the race for Champions League qualification.

"We're going into the game at the weekend looking to win," he said.

"Chelsea are obviously deserved champions, they've been the best team, but all we can do is control the last three games, look to win those and see where we end up. I'm purely focused on the game.

"I congratulated [Mourinho]. They're the deserving champions and to win it with a few games to go is obviously pleasing for him.

"But it doesn't take away from what we're looking to do and we want to finish the season strong.

"We played well in the [League Cup semi-final] game at Chelsea but hopefully this time we can play well and get the result."

Rodgers was also asked if Chelsea's celebrations of their success could have led to complacency in their preparations for Sunday's clash in the capital.

But the Reds boss does not expect the newly crowned champions to let up - even if Mourinho makes a number of changes for the game.

"I think if they've had a few days off then they deserve it," he added.

"They've won the league and they can celebrate that. They're top players, professional players and every game is important for them and they'll look to go into our game and win that.

"[A] break can reinvigorate you to go into the game. Jose may find that he wants to play some young players, and if the young players are playing they'll have a motivation to want to play well and work well.

"And maybe the ones that haven't played so much may get the opportunity but whatever team they play they'll be looking to win there's no doubt about that so we know it'll be a tough challenge for us.

"I think Chelsea's days off [this week] are absolutely irrelevant to us and our preparation. Our job is to go there and look to get a result that can keep the pressure on [United]."
