Liverpool FC was among the 22 European Cup-winning clubs to be honoured with a commemorative plaque by UEFA at a presentation in Berlin on Friday evening.

The prestigious continental tournament is celebrating its 60th year in 2015, with Barcelona and Juventus contesting the latest Champions League final on Saturday night.

Ahead of the match, a representative from each team to have won the competition since its inception received special recognition from UEFA president Michel Platini.

They were given a framed plaque containing the original handwritten draft notes of the cup, which were penned by L'Equipe journalist Jacques Ferran in 1955.

The Reds have lifted the trophy on five occasions - 1977, 1978, 1981, 1984 and 2005 - and only Real Madrid and AC Milan have been more successful in the competition.
