Jamie Carragher has expressed his excitement at the prospect of Liverpool FC Legends taking on their Real Madrid counterparts at the 'iconic' Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Sunday.

The Bootle-born defender is eyeing a place in Ian Rush's starting XI for the fixture in the Spanish capital on June 14, which will help generate funds for the Real Madrid Foundation.

Kop favourites such as Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman and Jerzy Dudek will also be involved in a game where the result is secondary to entertainment and raising money.

But Carragher remains keen for his teammates to put on a good show against star-studded opposition.

"If you get the chance to play Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, it takes you back to your playing days because that is one of the iconic arenas in world football you all dream of playing in," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"I only played there once in a competitive game so when I got the shout that I was included, it's Real Madrid away, it's certainly not something you turn down.

"You start getting a bit worried about who you're coming up against, who will be on the opposing side, making sure you're fit and ready for it.

"For all of us it's something to be enjoyed, of course getting the lads together, but we also want to go there and give a good account of ourselves.

"We've seen in the past with testimonial games, the charity games that myself and Stevie were involved with - when the former players get involved it does bring the memories back for the supporters, not just the players.

"With 70,000 or 80,000 in the Bernabeu against Zinedine Zidane... I'm getting a little more nervous now!"
