Liverpool Ladies ace Fara Williams played the full game as England clinched a vital 2-1 win over Mexico in the Women's World Cup in Canada on Saturday evening.

After losing their opening fixture 1-0 to France Mark Sampson's side needed a response and they got the win they needed in fine style.

Fran Kirby netted the opener in the 70th minute and Karen Carney got the vital second goal on 82 minutes, and despite Mexico pulling a late effort back it was just a mere consolation.

Williams and England play their final game against Colombia in Montreal on Wednesday. Colombia are on a real high after beating France 2-0 on Saturday.
