Ilori helps Portugal beat England U21s
Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori helped Portugal record a clean sheet en route to defeating England 1-0 at the U21 European Championship on Thursday evening.
The 22-year-old played the entire Group B game as his country dealt a blow to the Three Lions - among the favourites to win the tournament - in their opener.
Joao Mario's rebound finish on 57 minutes proved enough to secure all three points for Portugal.
Danny Ings was introduced for the final quarter-hour but Gareth Southgate's team were thwarted in their attempts to equalise.
In the next round of matches, to take place on Sunday June 21, England face Sweden and Portugal take on Italy.
