Emre Can was involved for the full 90 minutes as Germany booked their spot in the semi-finals of the U21 European Championship after a 1-1 draw with Czech Republic on Tuesday night.

The Liverpool midfielder and his country knew that a point would be enough against the hosts in Prague to secure progress to the last four of the tournament.

A goal from Nico Schulz 10 minutes into the second half strengthened their position, before Can twice went close to extending Germany's advantage in the aftermath of that opener.

As it was, substitute Ladislav Krejci instead struck the back of the net for the Czechs on 66 minutes to equalise the contest and set up a fascinating finale at Eden Stadium.

But there were no further goals, meaning Can's side took second place in Group A and will now face the winners of Group B - potentially England - on Saturday June 27.
