Milner became the second-youngest Premier League player of all time when he debuted for Leeds United against West Ham United at the age of just 16 years and 309 days - though he has since been pushed out of the top 10.
He has, however, held onto his record as the second-youngest ever scorer in the competition, having notched for the Yorkshire club against Sunderland just 10 days shy of his 17th birthday.
The midfielder is also comfortably the most capped England U21 player ever, having made 46 appearances.
His finest moment in the Three Lions' youth team came in 2009, as he helped take Stuart Pearce's side to the final of the European U21 Championships, where they were defeated by Germany.
Milner supported Leeds as a child and even served as a ball boy at Elland Road.
During his time at Manchester City, the Yorkshireman won every domestic trophy available - the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield.
His final season at the Etihad Stadium yielded an impressive five goals and seven assists in just 18 league starts.
