Fara Williams produced an inspirational display as she helped Liverpool Ladies gain a priceless three points after a 3-1 win over Arsenal at Boreham Wood on Sunday evening.

Despite playing in all of the games for England during a successful World Cup, the No.4 told Matt Beard she was raring to go to help the team get back to winning ways after the break.

With Icelandic midfielder Katrin Omarsdottir back to full fitness and providing added steel in midfield, Beard's charges made a great start when Williams fired a spectacular opener after just nine minutes.

Williams then provided an assist when her corner was glanced into the net by Becky Easton to make it 2-0.

Liverpool Ladies were playing some fantastic football at this point and with Asisat Oshoala a real threat, they went close to extending their two goal lead.

New Zealand striker Rosie White was introduced to make her debut for the club as a second half replacement for Omarsdottir.

The Gunners came back into the game when Natalia scored with a superb lob, but Oshoala made sure of the victory with a brilliant late finish to seal a fantastic victory.

Beard had called this game a 'must-win' for his side before the game in their bid to keep up the pressure on leaders Chelsea, and he will have been delighted with the response of his team as they now go just three points behind second placed Arsenal.
