Exclusive: At Melwood with…Nathaniel Clyne

In the first installment, the 24-year-old discusses his rise through the ranks at Crystal Palace and Southampton before arriving at Anfield, as well as the definition of his role in Brendan Rodgers’ team.
Explaining: “You can see how much the game has changed these days. Full-backs are asked to get forward more and support the attack.
“The stats after every game show that the full-backs tend to cover more distance so your fitness needs to be very high to cope with that.
“A lot of wingers want to come inside and play the No.10 role, which allows the full-back space to get forward and supply crosses and even get goals.
“But I think what makes a world-class full-back is weighing up both your attacking and defensive qualities and using them at the right time.”
