James Milner and Nathaniel Clyne both featured as England maintained their 100 per cent European Championship qualifying record with a 2-0 win over Switzerland on Tuesday evening.

The Liverpool duo were selected in Roy Hodgson's starting XI as the Swiss were defeated at Wembley thanks to goals from Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney.

England had already sealed their place at Euro 2016 by beating San Marino comfortably last weekend, a game which both players took part in.

But the Three Lions ensured they would head to France as Group F winners by clocking up their eighth victory of the campaign in the capital on Tuesday.

Clyne played 68 minutes of the tie at right-back before being replaced by Everton defender John Stones, while Milner remained on the pitch for the entirety of the fixture.

It was also a productive evening for Reds defender Martin Skrtel, as he helped Slovakia to a 0-0 home draw against Ukraine which keeps them on track for qualification.

They remain three points ahead of their opponents in second place in Group C with two games remaining.

All three players will now return to Merseyside to prepare for the upcoming clash with Manchester United having enjoyed a successful international break.
