In our latest fan blog from 90min.com, Donovan Chandler reflects on the appointment of Jürgen Klopp and the new Liverpool manager's first fixture against Tottenham Hotspur.

The excitement around Liverpool Football Club is immeasurable. Our city, our supporters and anybody involved with the Reds will have felt the colossal buzz that came with the announcement made on Thursday night.

Jürgen Klopp - yes, Jürgen Klopp - is Liverpool's new manager.

Most managerial appointments are greeted with refreshed hope, but this is on another level. Klopp is one of the most charismatic, passionate and tactically astute coaches in the world game and you'd be forgiven for thinking that he is finally the right man to take this club back to where they belong.

Klopp stated in his first press conference on Friday morning that he believes he can deliver a title within four years. It'll be a statement he's measured on over the course of his stay at the club, but Klopp's previous record is proof that he might just be the perfect coach to end our 25-year wait for league glory.

That's the long-term goal - of that there is no doubt - but first the German's attention will turn to getting his new side to play in the manner he expects. He took training for the first time this week ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash at Tottenham Hotspur and, while Klopp hasn't had a full squad to work with until later in the week because of the international break, his agenda will be made clear from the start.

Klopp will demand maximum effort from every single one of his players, whether they be on the fringes, coming up from the youth team, or established regulars. He spoke of playing "full-throttle" football upon his arrival and it's one of the reasons why he is the perfect fit for this club at this point in time.

Liverpool's supporters expect high-energy, exciting football. It's simply the way that we've always been meant to play and the very fact that Jurgen Klopp's reputation is based on an emotional, buccaneering brand of football makes everyone associated with the club, especially the supporters, believe that this is quite literally a match made in heaven.

We came so close to winning the Premier League title in 2014 although it wasn't to be, but given that Klopp has won two Bundesliga titles with Borussia Dortmund using the 'gegenpressing' (you'll hear a lot more of that word) tactic he's made his name for, it's reason for us to believe he has the ability to take Liverpool that one step further.

It's about building on what we've got for the present, though. Liverpool sit a mere three points off the Champions League places as it stands and just six from first place. Klopp's first priority will be to assess where his side needs to improve and which players fit into the system he'll want to lay out.

Rest assured that it's a style that will bring back those famous nights and afternoons Anfield is famous for. Klopp aspires to win silverware, but it is of utmost importance to him that he thrills us on the way to taking us there.

It would be wrong to expect the world of the German so soon, but there's every chance for Liverpool supporters to believe that Champions League football could be back on the horizon come the end of the season. It'll take some time for the players to adjust, but we can hope that the wave of excitement sweeping the city is enough to kick-start our season as soon as this weekend.

It's a great time to be a Liverpool fan.
