Jürgen Klopp has insisted taking on Manchester United is a challenge his squad and all Liverpool supporters should relish, in his programme notes for today's clash at Anfield.

The following is an exclusive extract from 'This is Anfield', the club's official matchday programme, which is available for sale around the ground ahead of the Barclays Premier League fixture.

"Although this will be my first experience of this particular fixture, I am fully aware of its importance to both sets of supporters," the manager writes.

"I was not here for the game at Old Trafford, or against Everton at their ground. We have played Manchester City, of course, but I understand the intensity of this rivalry is different.

"I think these are games and challenges we should all look forward to, games we should be excited about.

"Regardless of the situation either team currently finds themselves in, this game is of big importance. It matters so much to our supporters.

"I must focus on the game and on the job of helping the team produce a good performance.

"The performance must be our first priority on days like this, because the result is usually a consequence of how you play as a team."

As well as the manager’s exclusive notes and the captain’s column from Jordan Henderson, there’s an insightful interview with Adam Lallana, who’s expecting a red-hot atmosphere for this huge clash.

You can also find a fascinating Q&A with flying full-back Alberto Moreno, the latest news from the Academy, full opposition analysis and the popular 'Anfield Extra' section for fans.
