GOTD: Fowler goes it alone against Villa
On this day in 1996, Robbie Fowler helped Liverpool cap a blistering start to an Anfield meeting with Aston Villa by netting their third goal inside the opening eight minutes.
The legendary Reds forward notched his second strike of the game - and added to Steve McManaman's opener in the process - as he drilled beyond a hapless Mark Bosnich at the Kop end.
Roy Evans' men failed to add to their tally over the course of the remaining 82 minutes, but had done enough in the early stages to seal a comfortable Barclays Premier League victory.
