It was a memorable night for Danny Ward on Thursday as the Liverpool goalkeeper made his debut international appearance for Wales.

The 22-year-old was brought on as a half-time substitute during the friendly against Northern Ireland in Cardiff, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Ward had spoken ahead of the fixture about achieving ‘something special’ with his country as he attempts to secure a place in the squad for Euro 2016 this summer.

Wales fell behind on the hour to a Craig Cathcart goal but equalised with a minute to go as Simon Church scored from the penalty spot.

Reds midfielder Joe Allen was also involved off the bench at the Cardiff City Stadium, entering the action in the 71st minute.
