No.3: Putting Real Madrid to the sword at Anfield

After the 1-0 win at the Bernabeu hopes were high that the Reds could finish the job off in front of the Kop.

Spanish newspaper Marca had proclaimed with their morning headline 'This is Anfield, so what?' but come the end of the game there was only one team who were marching on in Europe's premier competition.

Captain Steven Gerrard led the way with a double strike and further goals from Fernando Torres and Andrea Dossena put paid to that question raised by Marca, as the Reds won 5-0 on aggregate to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.
