John Arne Riise has marked the 15th anniversary of the day he signed for Liverpool FC by describing the seven years he spent at Anfield as 'the best of his career' in a post on his official Instagram account.

The Reds concluded a deal for the Norwegian full-back to bring him to Merseyside from AS Monaco in June 2001.

He went on to make 348 appearances for Liverpool, scoring some iconic goals against the likes of Manchester United and Everton among others.

In total, he netted 31 times for the club – but it was his participation in the 2005 Champions League final success that firmly etched him into club folklore.

Riise also picked up FA Cup, League Cup and two UEFA Super Cup winners’ medals before bidding farewell to the Reds in July 2008 when he moved to AS Roma.
