Marko Grujic makes his first competitive start for Liverpool after being named in the starting XI for tonight's EFL Cup clash with Derby County.

The Serbian has thus far only appeared as a substitute for the Reds, but has been given the chance to impress from the off in this evening's third-round fixture at the iPro Stadium.

As promised by Jürgen Klopp in his pre-match media briefing, Loris Karius is also handed his official bow, coming in for Simon Mignolet between the sticks.

The manager makes seven changes in total from Friday's trip to Chelsea, with Roberto Firmino returning after overcoming the minor groin injury that kept him out of that 2-1 win.

There is also a place on the bench for Emre Can, who is back in training having overcome the ankle problem that has disrupted his start to the season.

Liverpool: Karius, Clyne, Matip, Klavan, Moreno, Lucas, Grujic, Henderson, Coutinho, Firmino, Origi.

Substitutes: Mignolet, Lovren, Milner, Can, Ejaria, Mane, Ings.
