Jordan Henderson captained England as the Three Lions were held to a goalless draw away to Slovenia in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night.

The Liverpool skipper played the full 90 minutes, while Daniel Sturridge featured for 81 minutes before being replaced by Marcus Rashford.

It was a tough encounter for Gareth Southgate's side, who had to rely on several fantastic saves from Joe Hart to deny the home team.

Sturridge fired an early effort wide of the target and also had an appeal for a penalty turned down, while Jesse Lingard came close to a winner but saw his effort palmed away by Slovenia stopper Jan Oblak.
