One of Liverpool's longest-serving players of all-time, Donald Mackinlay spent nearly 20 years at Anfield.

He joined the Reds from Newton Villa in 1910 and quickly proved himself a versatile servant to manager Tom Watson.

Capable of playing in a number of positions, the Scot's leadership skills saw him named captain in January 1922.

He subsequently led the team to back-to-back league titles, and held the armband until leaving the club in 1929.
