Boss: Why I decided to surprise Jamie Webster
It was the heart-warming surprise that left Jamie Webster in a state of shock last week, and Jürgen Klopp has explained why he couldn't turn down the opportunity to drop in on the musician's performance.
Unbeknown to Webster, the manager decided to call into an appearance at a Supporters’ Club event in Michigan during Liverpool’s United States tour – and join in with a rendition of ‘Allez, Allez, Allez’.
The reaction of the man on stage was priceless – and Klopp has detailed why he was so eager to pop in.
He told Liverpoolfc.com: “With Jamie, it was quite an easy decision that I would go in. I had no clue what was behind the door, how many people or whatever – I had never been in that room before.
“I love the song and I like Jamie without knowing him because I’ve seen a few videos of him singing. It’s really nice how he lives that song!
“It’s not always easy from my point of view to imagine what it means for people when I meet them because I see myself every day, every morning and it’s not always a joy!
“I tried to show my respect for the idea and all the things he has done since then. This song was a really big part of the final third of last season.
“If you do something like that, you should get the benefit of it and hopefully he emotionally got the benefit of it.”
