Sadio Mane was humbled to be labelled 'world-class' by Jürgen Klopp and has no intention of resting on his recent top-level performances for Liverpool.

The No.10 notched a brace in the midweek rout of Watford, including a stunning backheel finish for his second, to register on the scoresheet for the fifth consecutive home league match.

The double also moved Mane up to his best ever tally in a single Premier League campaign – 14 goals – with 10 games still to play this season.

Reflecting on the Senegalese’s form on Friday, the manager explained how a realisation of, and comfort with, his world-class ability has allowed him to shine.

“Wow, what a compliment!” Mane told Premier League Productions when the comments were put to him.

“I think it’s normal because we have good players – I always want to learn more and develop more. It’s only positive for me.

“I will try to believe it more and more and to do better and better. I’m always trying to push harder and do my best.”

Liverpool return to the scene of one of Mane’s finest contributions for the club on Sunday.

Goodison Park awaits Klopp’s men in their ongoing charge for the Premier League title, where the forward claimed a stoppage-time winner two seasons ago.

Mane expects a difficult challenge against Everton and prioritises a victory – given its importance to the fans as well as the Reds’ ambitions – over another individual moment.

“Everybody knows the derby is never easy,” he added. “When I go there, I [just] think to win the game because representing the fans and the club is special.

“Sometimes I have been lucky to score against them – I always try to be in the game and give everything for the fans.”
