The last meeting

The two teams last met in Europe back in 2009 for a thrilling 4-4 Champions League quarter-final second leg at Stamford Bridge.
What the managers say
"Of course people will say we are favourites because we came second [in the Premier League] last year and won the Champions League, and all these things. But, it's about who is more ready on the day, and hopefully it's us."
Jürgen Klopp
"I'm optimistic because I believe in the players and the fact that we are here in the final because we deserve to be. I'm very understanding of the quality of the opposition in Liverpool, the team that deservedly won the Champions League, and have a fantastic manager and group of players. If we play to our maximum we can win the match."
Frank Lampard

This will be the first ever all-English Super Cup showpiece.
It is Liverpool's sixth appearance in the fixture and Chelsea's fourth.
