Mohamed Salah could set Premier League opening day record
Mohamed Salah could create Premier League history with a goal in Liverpool's season-opener against Norwich City today.
The Egypt international has scored in the Reds’ first game of the top-flight campaign in each of the previous four years since joining the club.
If Salah nets at Carrow Road in the 5.30pm BST kick-off, he would become the first Premier League player ever to strike on five successive opening weekends.
Two goals for Liverpool from any source this afternoon, meanwhile, would bring up the landmark of 8,000 in the club’s overall league history.

This is the third season in a row that the Reds have faced a promoted side in their first Premier League fixture, having met Leeds United a year ago and Norwich in 2019.
They are unbeaten in the past eight league openers, a run of seven wins and a draw since losing at West Bromwich Albion in 2012.
The Reds have plundered 19 goals in their previous five Premier League opening matches under Jürgen Klopp, hitting at least three on each occasion.
Liverpool have scored the opening goal in each of their last 14 league meetings with the Canaries, winning 12 and drawing two of those games.
Their last three victories at Carrow Road have all been by a single-goal margin – 3-2, 5-4 and, most recently, 1-0 in 2019-20.
On the two previous occasions the Reds beat Norwich in their opening fixture of a league season (1976-77 and 2019-20) they went on to win the title.
Joe Gomez could make his 100th start for Liverpool in all competitions.
A win would see the Reds equal the club record of most successive away league victories against the same opponent. They have won seven in a row versus the Canaries, one fewer than the eight achieved at West Brom between 1983 and 2009.
