Trent Alexander-Arnold reflected on a perfect evening for Liverpool after they took down Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

The Reds returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion as Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Takumi Minamino were on the scoresheet for the hosts.

Typically, Alexander-Arnold provided assists for two of the goals and afterwards spoke to Sky Sports to detail his satisfaction at the result. Read on for the No.66’s reaction…

On the result and responding to the defeat at West Ham United...

It was exactly what we needed, it was exactly what we expect of ourselves. Massively disappointed before the international break with the loss – a team of our quality shouldn't be losing games. In this league, [with] the way it's going, any loss is a very bad loss. But we bounced back today in the best way we could. A clean sheet, four goals – we can't ask for much more from the lads. A very good performance. They came with two banks of four, tough to break down in the first half, very difficult indeed. But we broke them down in the end, scored our goals and put the game to bed and seeing it out with a clean sheet, which is always good.

On whether Liverpool's intensity and aggression was making the difference as the game went on...

Definitely. First half, we did have that aggression but didn't really capitalise on it. First 15, 20 minutes of the second half was probably as good as we've played, pressing-wise, this season. We completely ran all over them, they continued to play out from the back and we were all over them – they were just seeing red blurs all over the place and that's exactly what we wanted to do. That second half was outstanding.

On two more assists and nine in his last six games for club and country...

And a goal in there! It's always good to contribute for the team and I try to pick up positions to hurt the opposition, try to contribute as much as I can. Score, create goals – that's kind of what my game is based on and I've been able to do it again twice today, obviously one with the set-piece and then near the end as well. So, I'm happy with that. I just need to keep up that form hopefully going into this tough run of fixtures. They're coming thick and fast in the Christmas period, all games are very important and hopefully I'll be able to keep that form going into this run. I'm feeling good out there, playing with freedom. I'm finding myself in positions that I haven't previously found myself in and I'm being able to hurt the opposition. So, it's flowing really nice and I just want to keep up that form. These are the levels I expect of myself, I need to keep it up and carry it on for the rest of the season.

On the players putting away his assists...

We've got top, top players, world-class players throughout the whole team, the whole squad. Taki coming off the bench and nicking a goal as well, it's great to have that when we are kind of low on first-team players right now through injuries, a lot of lads out at the minute. It's good to be able to still bring players on and contribute with the goals, and know that we can make changes throughout the game and still be able to produce goals.
