Liverpool duo Ibrahima Konate and Darwin Nunez may feature in the Reds' Champions League meeting with AFC Ajax on Wednesday night.

The pair have both travelled to Amsterdam for the Group A clash at the Johan Cruyff Arena (8pm BST), where Liverpool require a point to qualify for the next phase of this year's competition.

Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip, however, remain sidelined and unavailable for selection in midweek.

"Still out," Klopp said when quizzed over the status of his No.6.

"Yes, he [Konate] is here. Ready to play minutes, I would say. He could play the first minutes but that would not make too much sense, so minutes yes. That's it. Nothing new yet."

On Nunez, the boss added: “He trained normal yesterday and today. So yes, in this moment, he is available."

Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are ineligible for Liverpool having been left out of the squad submitted for the group stage due to their injuries earlier in the season.

Arthur MeloLuis Diaz and Diogo Jota all remain long-term absentees for Klopp.

Alisson Becker is in line to make his 200th Reds appearance in all competitions, while Andy Robertson could reach 50 European games for the club.

The hosts have midfielder Kenneth Taylor and defender Devyne Rensch available for selection again, Ajax boss Alfred Schreuder confirmed at his pre-match press conference.

Edson Alvarez is also fit to feature, but Ahmetcan Kaplan remains sidelined.

The Eredivisie leaders must win this game to prevent Liverpool from joining Napoli in qualifying from Group A to the last 16 on the night.

“In the end it’s about the points. We have to believe we can do it and show healthy courage and aggression,” said Schreuder.

“We will do everything we can to win until the end. If we have to be satisfied with a point, then that’s what we will have to do. But we want to go for the win for as long as possible.”
