Liverpool will have Thiago Alcantara available for the visit of Leeds United to Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday night.

The midfielder has missed the last two outings due to an ear infection but is set to make his return to Jürgen Klopp's squad this weekend.

Ibrahima Konate could also be in line for some game time, having returned to the matchday squad for the midweek victory at AFC Ajax in the Champions League.

Elsewhere, Jordan Henderson will be assessed ahead of the 7.45pm BST kick-off, though Naby Keita, Joel Matip, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Arthur Melo all remain out.

Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool vs Leeds United press conference

"With Hendo, we have to wait a little bit," Klopp told reporters on Friday. "It's a knock, he was a bit stiff yesterday, had only treatment yesterday. So we will see how he will be today. I expect him to be OK, to be honest.

"And Thiago is back. Naby not yet. Joel will not be back – he's here training but rehab. You don't have to ask about Diogo for a while and not for Luis for a while."

On Konate, the Reds boss said: "He's a step closer, definitely, a few days more and he's around now and is now available. How long? We will see but he's available."

For Leeds, Stuart Dallas and Adam Forshaw are confirmed absentees for the trip to L4 and boss Jesse Marsch detailed multiple other fitness doubts when speaking to the media on Thursday.

“In addition, questionable are Leo Hjelde with his appendectomy. And then Joffy [Joe Gelhardt], Rodri [Rodrigo Moreno], Luis [Sinisterra], Liam [Cooper] and Tyler [Adams] are all a little bit in question,” he said.

“We’ll see how the next 48 hours goes for all those players. That’s it.”

On facing Liverpool following their qualification for the Champions League last 16 with Wednesday's win in Amsterdam, Marsch said: “I know Liverpool, I’ve gotten to know Jürgen Klopp a little bit over the years.

“He is relentless in his commitment to make his team better and his belief of the way he does things and Liverpool, for me, has been one of the best teams in the world over the last four or five years.

“No matter what, that is a group of professional players that understand what the demands are. They have a lot of niggling injuries right now, their backs have been against the wall already a little bit this year, in different ways to where we’re at.

“But we know the quality they have, we know at home they’re incredibly good. The way they responded in the game against Ajax shows everything and we’re expecting their absolute best.”
